The Advocacy Committee represents, promotes, and advocates for the interests of the Association with regard to policies, laws, regulations and other developments that may affect the Association and its membership.
The Committee monitors all federal and state legislation, regulatory, and judicial developments that may affect the Association, and advises the Association Board and the membership about these issues.
In response to identified issues or proposed legislation, the Committee will contact and inform policy makers at the national and state levels in an effort to educate and promote the interests of the Association.
Projects and Tasks. Committee projects and tasks may include:
- Required regular committee meetings (by telephone)
- Monitoring assigned government information websites
- Researching legislative/policy issues
- Contacting (via phone/email/fax) policy makers
- Contacting and coordinating involved association members
The Advocacy Committee is a working committee that requires a time commitment of 2 to 3 hours per month from each of its members. During busier months, such as when a federal or state bill is pending, the time commitment could be higher. All committee members will also be encouraged to attend the Annual AAERT Conference.
Committee members are required to be AAERT members in good standing.
